Job Description
Full
time position
Under the direction of the Pastor, and
working together with other parish staff, coordinates the Sacramental
preparation programs and other catechesis initiatives of St. Joseph Parish.
Sacramental
Catechesis
• Plan and execute the parish catechetical
programs in collaboration with parish clergy
• Plan the Calendar for the preparation and
celebration of the First Holy Communion (FHC) and Confirmation
• Recruit, train and coordinate a team of
volunteers
• Coordinate registration and preparation
process along with the local Catholic Schools
• Maintain list of participants and ensure
proper documentation
• Respond to enquiries from Parents in a
timely manner
• Provide support for the preparation of
Public\Private School Children for FHC and Confirmation
• Assist at preparation meetings and
coordinate volunteers for these meetings
• Assist at the Celebration of the Sacraments
and coordinate volunteers for the Liturgies
• Develop and implement Initiation Programs
for Children when required.
Schools

Coordinate
School visits and Mass schedules
•
Provide
Schools with Mass templates for their individual celebrations
•
Coordinate
the booking of Hall\Meeting Rooms and Church for school activities
•
Provide
information on Share Life and encourage school participation
Other Faith
Development Activities
• Coordinate, promote and organize faith
development activities (eg. guest speakers, lecture series, parish missions,
and any other activities that may be required)
• Other duties as assigned
General
requirements
• Superior written and verbal skills
• 2-3 year experience in a similar position
• Diploma in theology, religious education or
equivalent
• Ability to work cooperatively, flexible
hours (days/evenings)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (2007)
an asset
• Demonstrated excellent
organizational/time-managements skills
